Gold'n Story
The roots of Gold’n’Treasures are found in
the living room of Gloria Gimble’s Saint Paul home. Gloria
appreciated fine jewelry and had a talent for selecting elegant
pieces. Wanting to share her talent with her friends, Gloria
hosted parties in her home where her friends purchased the
jewelry she had selected. Over time, Gloria’s reputation for
offering fine jewelry at exceptional prices spread such that she
contemplated opening a jewelry store.
While Gloria considered opening a jewelry
store, her son Todd pondered life after high school. Not
having the talent to become a professional skateboarder, Todd
decided instead to become a gemologist. After his high school
graduation, Todd moved to Santa Monica, California, where he
enrolled in the G.I.A. (Gemology Institute of America)
Graduate Gemologist Program. Upon completion of his
studies, Todd returned to Minnesota as a Graduate Gemologist
– or in his mind, a veritable rock star, pun intended.
Although Todd and Gloria had not
anticipated going into business together when he began the
gemologist program, their decision to do so upon his return to
Minnesota was an easy one to make. It transformed
Gold’n’Treasures into a family business, uniting
Gloria’s business experience and Todd’s academic training.
The first task facing Todd and Gloria: to open a jewelry store
possessing the same warm, inviting atmosphere that Gloria’s
home had provided for so many years. They found such a space
at 805 Grand Avenue. Although the store’s location had
changed, Todd’s and Gloria’s commitment to their clients
had not: taking care of the person in front of them, friendly
customer service, and offering unique jewelry at exceptional
prices.
A few years ago, Gloria retired and Todd
took over Gold’n’Treasures. Under his direction, the store
continues to grow. Notwithstanding Gloria’s retirement, Todd
and his staff remain committed to the values that made
Gold’n’Treasures successful: taking care of the customer
whether the sale be large or small, friendly customer service,
and creating a fun atmosphere where people who appreciate fine
jewelry find exceptional values.
